Thanks you for your participation in learning about medicine abuse problems in the San Ramon Valley, as well as the efforts to educate parents and community leaders about teens who intentionally abuse medicines to get high.

On Friday, January 15, 2010 at Iron Horse Middle School, San Ramon CA, a program free to the community , provided a perscription drug drop off for people to dispose of old medicine in a safe and secure manner.

Background Information On Our Presenters
About Dr. Martin Muthenlaher Martin Muthenhaher serves as the Medical Field Advisor for Reckitt Benckiser providing medical education, intervention and dissemination of best practices to prescribers and other healthcare providers in the field. Working in conjunction with professional bodies and the company’s training department to be integral in the education of prescribers, consumers and field staff in the therapeutic area of opioid dependence and the use of buprenorphine products specifically. Working in conjunction with the company’s Medication Utilization Manager, Clinical Liaisons and outside agencies, conducting interventional education in areas in which diversion and misuse has been identified as a particular issue. Dr. Martin gave over one hundred presentations on “Abuse and Diversion” and “Neurobiology of Addiction” to health care providers at all levels. Martin has his Ph.D. Pharmacology (Psychopharmacology) from the University of Bern, Switzerland, School of Medicine and his Pharm.D. from the University of Bern, Switzerland, Institute of Pharmacy. About Dr. Richard Gracer Richard Gracer has been practicing orthopedic medicine since 1979. He is board certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, board certified in Family Practice, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Gracer employs the best of conventional and alternative treatments. He currently runs Gracer Behavioral Health Services, an innovative and comprehensive substance abuse program that stresses the reduction of cravings. His group also specializes in treating pain, as well as other complex medical problems such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Dr. Gracer also loves to teach. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Community and Family Medicine at UC San Francisco School of Medicine from 1980 until 2005. He has taught orthopedic medical topics at many seminars and courses both in North America and Europe. Dr. Gracer has edited three books, Beating the Years, Beating Back Pain and Beating Sports Injuries. He also wrote an ask the doctor column for 10 years. He is the author of A New Prescription for Addiction, his first book and wrote an essay in the recently published anthology, Peak Vitality. Gracer Medical Group is located in San Ramon, California in the San Francisco Bay Area.
