What: Creating Lasting Family Connections (CLFC) is a research-based curriculum program. The program format includes peer group exchange, group discussions, education and role-playing, and is divided into three sections. The first module of CLFC helps youth develop independence and improve self-esteem. The second module helps youth develop a greater awareness of facts and feelings about alcohol and drug use, abuse, and dependency. The third module helps improve communication to establish and maintain healthy relationships. An additional component to the program is a Parent Group.
The Parent Group component is a vital and integral part of the program’s success. Parents will be able to share their experiences and learn communication skills while building connections with their child and family. The parent group utilizes curriculum similar to the youth group.
