School-Based: Interns in the School Counseling and Intervention Program (SCIP) work in the schools with at-risk youth in individual and group counseling. Interns are assigned to schools in the San Ramon Valley School District, and will be affiliated with elementary, middle or high schools. Additional opportunities to work with the families are available at the Discovery Center clinic. The internship is approximately 12 clinical hours (2 school days) plus 5 hours of training and supervision per week, with a 10-month commitment. Applicants should have a minimum of 1 year's experience involving children. This option can be applied toward dual MFT/PPS hours as well.

Psychological testing oppurtunities may be negotiated. The internship is 20 hours per week including a minimum of 10 clinical cases and 5 hours of training and supervision, with a 12-month commitment. Some evening hours are expected.
Applicants must be a registered intern or 3rd year doctoral student with significant clincial experience.

School/Clinic Combination: Interns may choose to work in both the schools and clinic. These interns will carry a caseload consisting of one school and 5 clinic clients. Training and supervision are the same as above.
Interns must be post-masters or 3rd year doctoral level.

The agency provides individual and group supervision by licensed Psy.D., MSW, and MFT staff. Weekly didactic trainings are conducted by staff and professionals from the community on a wide variety of topics relevant to the treatment of children and families.

"I have gotten so much out of my time at Discovery! The school placement has been very fulfilling and has taught me so much. The supervision has been awesome and the support incredible. I love the emphasis on a positive intern/staff community; I feel I can totally focus on my learning experience. The didactic training has been excellent as well. You cant go wrong here!!"
