Studies show exposure to nature helps improve attention, promote prosocial behaviors, reduce stress, and bolster overall mental and physical wellbeing in children.
ECO CAMP takes this nature-based approach supporting student emotional growth and cognitive development. Camps are led by counselors and provide a safe space for children to engage with nature, via group activities, in a tech-free and therapeutic way. Currently Eco-Camp is provided for middle school aged students.
This program was a huge success when piloted in April 2022 during Spring Break. The program continued through a partnership with the Town of Danville Summer Recreation camps in Summer 2022. In 2023, DCC’s therapists worked with Kids Country Summer camps at various school sites throughout the summer.
