JOB TITLE: Associate Therapist (Part-Time)

SUPERVISOR: Clinical Director and Assigned Clinical Supervisor

Discovery Counseling Center (DCC) is a community based non-profit organization serving the San Ramon Valley for over 50 years. Our mission is to be the community’s leader in mental wellness by providing affordable, high quality, culturally appropriate and accessible counseling services and programs; offering excellent and highly-regarded training for future mental health professionals; creating greater awareness of the prevalence of mental wellness issues in our community and the importance of early treatment; and serving as the community’s advocate in securing adequate funding and resources for the treatment of mental wellness issues.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Associate Therapist (AMFT, ASW, or APCC) to join our clinical team in a part-time capacity. The Associate Therapist will provide individual, couple, and family therapy services under the supervision of a licensed clinical supervisor and our Clinical Director. This position offers opportunities to gain hours toward licensure, develop clinical expertise, and participate in a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven environment.

Therapist will ensure that quality clinical services are being provided to clients in accordance with Federal and State regulations and the agency’s policies, mission, values, and vision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families (caseload expectations to be determined by employment status).
  • Optionally, co-facilitate or facilitate group therapy.
  • Ensure that the treatment of clients is in accordance with agency policies, ethical guidelines and all Federal and CA State laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the agency’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision and group consultation, as required for licensure.
  • Attend staff meetings, clinical training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, ethical guidelines, and legal standards of practice.
  • Engage in outreach and participate in agency events and community programming when possible.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or related field from an accredited program.
  • Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an AMFT, ASW, or APCC in good standing.
  • Strong interest in developing clinical skills in a community mental health setting.
  • Experience with children, adolescents, or families is preferred.
  • Interest or experience in working with diverse populations, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, is highly valued.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and client-centered care.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with basic computer programs and willingness to learn EHR systems.
