Individual

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Individual therapy refers to one-on-one collaborative work with a trained therapist. It involves the process of exploring and gaining insight into feelings, beliefs, behaviors, and relational patterns that may be causing distress. Through psychotherapy, aspects of an individual’s life are better understood, and personal goals are set up for the work to achieve desired change. This is all done in a safe, caring, and confidential environment.

Anger Management

Anger management is the process of recognizing signs of anger and learning healthy ways to manage and express it. Our skilled therapists can help by offering relaxation tools and coping
skills that reduce the emotional arousal of anger and lead to healthier communication skills and expressions of anger.

Anxiety

Anxiety is the physical and mental reaction to stress. Symptoms of anxiety include muscle tension, fast breathing, and rapid heartbeat. Therapy can help with anxiety by offering tools to manage and reduce stress.

Bicultural/Multicultural Counseling

Multicultural counseling refers to the understanding of how an individual’s cultural identity may shape their mental health. Our culturally competent therapists offer a safe space to explore and gain deeper insights into how the many facets of culture come together to impact an individual’s life. At Discovery Counseling Center, treatment plans are tailored specifically with
each individual’s culture in mind.

Depression

Depression is a clinical disorder that can affect the way a person thinks, feels, and behaves. Common symptoms of depression include feelings of sadness, guilt, hopelessness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, irritability, frustration, anxiety and/or anger outbursts, and increased thoughts of suicide/self-harm. Physical symptoms may include general unexplained aches and pains, changes in sleep patterns, reduced appetite, slowed behavior and fatigue. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, call us today to make an appointment. Our trained therapists can help by offering a safe space to process experiences and gain valuable tools needed for healthy coping.

Grief

Grief is the natural response to loss. It can be experienced as an overwhelming sense of pain and may be accompanied and compounded by feelings of confusion, anger, or guilt. Therapy can offer the support needed to understand loss and move through the natural stages of grief that come with loss.

LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care

Discovery Counseling Center offers individual and couple’s therapy and support that is tailored specifically to LGBTQIA+ needs. Our skilled therapists are gender and culture competent and understand the importance of care that is affirming and supportive.

Teen Counseling

Teen counseling refers to an approach of therapy that is tailored specifically for teens. Within a safe space, our skilled therapists work one-on-one with teens to help them gain insight into their
feelings and behaviors and learn healthy ways of coping. Teen counseling can facilitate resilience and offer teens a way to express their feelings and problem solve in a healthy manner.

Trauma

is an emotional response to any physical or emotional event that involves the experience of eminent danger. Reactions to trauma may include shock, denial, mood-swings, flash backs, and relational challenges. Our skilled therapists can offer support in the recovery of physical and/or emotional trauma.
